Spring Chic For The Girl In A Rush

It’s 10:15 am on a Sunday morning and you’re supposed to meet your friends at 11 am for brunch at that go-to spot in town, but you decided to hit the snooze button instead of waking up with enough time to get ready. We’ve all been there, and if you work a busy schedule you know what it feels like to want to sleep in longer than usual on a weekend.  So, how can you roll out of bed and manage to get ready quickly without meeting your friends in your pjs? One word: Romper.

Rompers and jumpsuits are the easiest clothing items to pull on when you’re in a hurry. It’s one piece that you don’t have to worry about matching other clothing items to. And if it’s a neutral color, like black, you really don’t have to worry.

This is my absolute favorite romper. It’s perfect for warmer spring weather (I live in Texas) and for those cooler summer evenings. Versatility in clothing items are key, but being able to wear an item during different seasons is just one part of being versatile – being able to wear an item for different types of occasions is another. The fabric on this romper is lightweight and the long, crochet sleeves give it that extra touch enough to make the romper dressy or casual.  The neckline on the romper is meant to be worn off the shoulder, which gives it a flirty feel.

Depending on the occasion, match your shoes and accessories accordingly. For a dressed up look, pair the romper with your favorite classic sandals or heels, some snazzy jewels and a clutch purse. For a dressed down look, pair the romper with some flat sandals or even tennis shoes, like Keds or Converse.

When I’m wearing an item that’s all black, I like to mix and match and give my look a few pops of color here and there. In this instance, I paired the black crochet romper with some bright colored earrings, a bright handbag, and some fun mirrored aviator sunglasses.

One of my go-to looks when I’m in a hurry is pulling my hair up in a messy bun. It’s quick, easy and simple. A messy bun isn’t for every occasion, but if you don’t have time to wash or style your hair, it may be your best bet. The messy bun has become so popular now that if you show up to meet your friends at a coffee shop, nobody will stare at your unkempt hair because it will seem so normal. A red or bright pink  lip is also a great way to make it look you tried a little harder to get ready in the morning, even though you didn’t.

Why 2-Piece Outfits Are Perfect Wardrobe Compliments.

With Spring well underway, it’s no surprise that some of us have started our spring cleaning. I, too, have somewhat begun the task of cleaning out my closet and donating my once loved pieces. It’s not always easy, but I do love an organized closet. Throughout the years I’ve tried to collect more versatile pieces so that my capsule isn’t full of eclectic items that hardly end up matching with anything at all – which is what my high school closet used to look like.

One of my new favorite items is this two-piece look floral outfit. I typically have a weak spot for florals, no matter which time of year it is, so I knew I had to have this look as soon as I saw it. Embroidered florals are making their way into spring pieces this year, accenting them with delicate and intricate details.

The sheer black fabric on this two piece outfit make it the perfect look for date night or a night out with girlfriends, especially once the weather starts to warm up. The best part about this outfit is that you get them together and you can mix and match with anything else in your closet. For example, the skirt can be paired with a different top for a separate occasion or if you’d want to make it a little more work appropriate. A blouse with bell sleeves would make an outfit appropriate for brunch on a Sunday.

The cropped top is a little more difficult to pull off with another item, unless you have other high-waisted pieces in your wardrobe capsule. Some high-waisted destroyed or black denim would complete a look perfect for a rock concert or music festival. It is festival season after all. If you have any high-waisted skirts, try pairing them with this sheer floral crop top for another flirty look this spring and summer.

Overall, two-pieces are perfect for a versatile wardrobe capsule. You can wear the pieces together or mix and match for separate other occasions. This particular two-piece item can also be worn throughout spring and well into summer, perhaps even into Fall and winter if worn appropriately. I will be rocking the pieces more often this season and you can expect to see just how I mix and match.

How to Get Away With Not Washing Your Hair

Ever wonder how some people always have great looking hair, even though they may only wash their hair 3 times per week? Yeah, same here. If you’ve got naturally oily hair, you know the dread of having to wash and style your hair every single day. Which, is supposedly also unhealthy for your hair.
How can other girls not wash their hair every day and still look great? That was my question, because having to wake up an hour and half earlier than usual just to get ready for work every day wasn’t cutting it for me. So, besides using dry shampoo or other DIY products in the morning to soak up the grease, I figured that there must be a better way out there.
I found that Dessange, a hair and beauty company, actually makes a great shampoo for naturally oily hair. And the best part is that you don’t have to go anywhere fancy to get it! It’s available right at Target. And, what I didn’t know was that they even make a clay mask that purifies the hair. Could this really be the product I’ve been looking for and needing? Well, I gave it a try! Right there on the label, it read “balancing shampoo”. Could my hair be greasy because it’s unbalanced? I believe it! If you have naturally oily skin and hair, it could be that the oil is just constantly building up and the shampoos to “smooth” out hair are just adding more and more oil to your scalp every day.

When I first tried Dessange, I was thinking that I’d still have to wash my hair every day, because nothing else had really worked. Well, after a couple of uses, I can definitely get away with washing my hair every other day without having to apply dry shampoo. It’s such a great feeling knowing that I can sleep in just a little longer and that my hair won’t look like a grease ball.
You can find Dessange products at Target.
