Destroyed denim and metallics can either make or break your OOTD depending on what you wear with them and what style you're actually going for. One of the style forecasts for Spring 2016 is metallics and destroyed denim. If you aren't quite sure how to pull off one or the other, or both, you've arrived at the right place. Destroyed denim is one of my favorite go-to pieces and I even consider it to be a staple in my closet. As for the metallics, I've had these shoes in my closet for a couple of years now and I can finally bring them back out and rock them this Spring! So, if you don't like this OOTD, stay tuned for more destroyed denim looks and metallic mixes.
First, you need to choose the right destroyed denim that fits you the best. I prefer moderately destroyed denim over the minimal or the super destroyed denim that has rips from the thighs down to the ankles. If you aren't sure where to start, choose minimal or moderately destroyed denim. This will make it easier for you to pair what you already have in your closet with your new destroyed denim.
Anyone can rock destroyed denim with a basic tee, booties or sneakers, and jewelry. Try breaking out of the box and break the rules by pairing your destroyed denim with some flirty, feminine tops. I chose a white peplum top to pair with my destroyed denim. This took the look to the next level and the best part is that you can now dress up your distressed denim for date night or a girls' night out. To dress it up even more, just pair your new look with your favorite high heels or booties.
To break up the look a little more and push a little further outside the box, throw a faux leather jacket over your flirty top. Faux leather jackets are also considered a staple piece for me and I think they're perfect for breaking rules and adding a little mix to your wardrobe. If you aren't sure if you can pull off a faux leather jacket, try a cropped one for starters. The cropped look, which is the style I'm wearing, will allow your flirty tops to show through and they will give you an edgy feminine look that you can rock with any denim or flirty dresses you already have in your closet.
Tread carefully with this one. Metallic shoes can very easily ruin your OOTD if not paired with the right things altogether. If you aren't sure this trend is for you, you can ease your way into it with a metallic clutch or some metallic high heels. Metallic can easily be paired with a minimalist look, because you can never go wrong with all white, all black or black, white and metallic.
Here, I used the metallic high heels to add an extra umph to the look. The metallic mixed with the faux leather jacket and destroyed denim gave the look an edgy feel, but also very feminine because of the shape of the shoe and the flirty top.
